About

Narthex Sparkhill is as faith based charity set up by St John’s Anglican Church in Sparkhill. The Heart of Narthex's work is to meet the culturally diverse needs of our local communities, providing quality facilities that offer a place of welcome. We work in one of the 4% most deprived communities in the UK, with the second highest area of children under 5 living in poverty. Sparkhill Parish is 93% ethnic minority residents with the highest group being Asian Muslim. Against this backdrop of need and diversity we seek to fulfil our mandate of Encouraging Cohesion through Education, Social Action, Families, Children’s and Young Peoples work.

Projects include:
- Lunch club
- Parish Nurse
- Friendship cafe
- Refugee resource centre
- Sparkhill foodbank
